Newcastle legend Steve Harper joins fierce rivals Sunderland

Sunderland have completed the controversial signing of Newcastle legend Steve Harper.
The veteran goalkeeper spent 20 seasons at St. James’ Park before joining Hull on a free transfer in 2013.
Most of his tenure was spent as back-up to No.1’s Shay Given and Tim Krul but he remained a popular figure among the Toon faithful.
Harper has now moved to Sunderland on a short-term deal until the end of the season though and immediately deleted his Twitter account, amid abuse fromNewcastle fans.
“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, how it all happened,” explained Harper.
